Mental health professionals and lay community members of different perspectives work together to facilitate this discussion about escaping harmful intimate relationships.
Some opposite-sex and same-sex intimate relationships are unhealthy and even dangerous. Escaping troubled intimate relationships is very difficult, especially when one partner has more power than the other partner and is physically or verbally violent. Often victims of intimate partner violence and people in relationships where there is no inherent power difference but have a toxic impact on both partners don’t have the support or information then need to escape or feel good about moving on.
Please email us at admin@CircligntheWagons.org if you feel it is important to segregate community members in opposite-sex relationships from community members in same-sex relationships. Our plan is to meet together in hopes of helping community members better understand perspectives community members develop love, respect and acceptance for those who have made different decisions than their own, but we understand that some people may feel uncomfortable with this idea. If enough people ask for segregated workshops, we will work to make that happen.
